Well, isn't that a bad sign in a brainstorm? Meaning we are too
reserved, not unleashing our full creative potential etc.? ;-)

This one is really problematic.

We have Debian GNU/Hurd, which uses the GNU kernel, but it's still just
a variant of GNU, not *the* official GNU system... (That's why we call
it GNU/Hurd, as a parallel to GNU/Linux for Linux-based GNU variants,
and opposed to just GNU for an official release.)

Unfortunately, a proper release of the official GNU system requires
quite some work, and nobody is working on it presently...
