None of this should be needed in theory, as I understand it.  I think
that the underlying problem is that while configuring and building the
cross binutils or the cross GCC the path to ``$SYSROOT/lib'' is being
hard-coded in some way, and accessing the files via this path will break
as soon as you move the tool chain.
