It's awfully hard to know what that means. What is "playing games with VM"? Whether cloning is a good thing or not depends on the particular hardware. Is Linux saying that it is wrong to clone on Sparcs, since on later Wintel architectures it will be wrong? Perhaps cloning is better in some cases, and copying is better in some cases, and that's that. Admittedly, doing cloning correctly takes skill.
