 It seems I was confused when I sent this patch.  I figured vmstat should
actually show the memory that the system has as opposed to the memory the
system has available for user space processes.  This means the changes to
get_size and to the Makefile (which apparently I didn't attach) are not
useful.  This leaves the changes to use memset, which are fine.  It also
leaves changes some 0 values to -1.  I can't see my logic for this.

 I'm going to try to figure out how to discard this patch now.  That's for
commenting :)
