Hello! I've read Protocol Service Decomposition for High-Performance Networking and it influenced on me much. I think it reasonable idea to insert a thin network interfaces code into kernel (actually what linux-src/net/core is). But it is far goal and somebody might not accept it.
One of ideas in this library is that ip stack should be separated library used by server and other application. So 1). I propose to move all linux code out of pfinet and make separated library with linux ip stack. 2). I propose to work with this code. Cut all unneeded code an update current code 2.4. The problems we could have with porting to 2.4 are new netfilter. But netfilter is used for firewall things that we don't need anyway. Thanks, -- Peter Novodvorsky Deadheads, unite!
