Ah, thanks.  That makes sense.  The font descriptions copied from the
grops font directory already contain everything gropdf would need for
the Adobe base 35.

BTW, this following will look familiar to you, but I thought it worth
recording in this ticket.

Here's the mysterious fourth host configuration working as intended.
