In nroff mode, all characters are the same width. So the above suggests that for nroff, U+2008 should translate to an ordinary space rather than a thin space: the former matches the width of the period, comma, and every other glyph in a monospace font; the latter is elided in terminal output. I've updated the patch with this refinement.
