Summary: [tbl] set up an environment for every TS/TE table region encountered Group: GNU roff Submitter: None Submitted: Sat 05 Oct 2024 02:56:10 PM UTC Category: Preprocessor tbl Severity: 3 - Normal Item Group: Feature change Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Planned Release: None _______________________________________________________ Follow-up Comments: ------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sat 05 Oct 2024 02:56:10 PM UTC By: Anonymous Opined Branden in http://lists.gnu.org/r/groff/2024-10/msg00016.html : It's really a damn shame that GNU tbl doesn't set up an environment for every TS/TE table region it encounters. Instead it creates a bajillion strings and registers and laboriously saves and restores tons of environment state without switching environments. Anyone could tell you that's going to be fragile (it's why the "struct" or "record" data type was invented)--and yet again and again we hit bugs in tbl that come down to this. ... [A] wishlist item for an ambitious contributor. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?66295> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.gnu.org/
