Obviously I didn't understand. Sorry. Ok, now that I know what we're talking about, I can try to address it :). The main issue here is that that canonical text appears in the GPL itself. But heck, what with GPLv3, maybe we can even get the url into that. It would be weird for the GNU maintainer doc to suggest something different than what the GPL itself has, although we can try that route if we have to. I will ask Brett (licensing guru) about the best way to proceed. The physical address of the FSF should remain in the source code comments; I've never actually understood why the physical address is needed (no other license that I've seen does that), but anyway, agreed, it's nothing to try to change.
