I don't know if it's a bug or feature, either :).  We didn't change
anything about tiffg3 in our "downstream" GNU Ghostscript, so I think
your best shot is to report it at http://bugs.ghostscript.com.

    to switch back on the automatic orientation fixing to make Hylafax happy?
