-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Based on the fact that you addressed this mail to bug-fileutils (an outdated list address), you probably want to consider upgrading the version of coreutils on your machine to the latest stable version, 5.94.
According to Sankar V (sent by Nabble.com) on 3/8/2006 11:05 PM: > The time taken by Patch command for patching a diff file in windows is 5 > times slower than the patching in linux/solaris. > What is the reson for this? This has nothing to do with coreutils; perhaps you meant to ask the diffutils list? Which Windows compilation are you using, cygwin, mingw, or something else - perhaps asking on their mailing list might be more enlightening? At any rate, without profiling the program, I cannot give an accurate answer, but I can say that many GNU programs when compiled for Windows suffer from slowdowns imposed by the extra layers of porting required to get the program to compile on a non-POSIX platform. - -- Life is short - so eat dessert first!
