I investigated a bit more.
when usb.c call libusb to read the reply from esys 40,
the response is -1, where focus retuns 64 bytes; 
and as i understand the thing:
   1. or the interrupt is not set properly,
   2. or a filter block the reply.

   in all case:
i investigate on freebsd whith git version up-to-date.
(on debian the bihaviour is the same).
   normally when esys 40 receive a call  on usb lines it displays:
usb connected.
but this does not appear, it stay on usb not connected.
this mean that the initialization is not what its firmware expects.

as i said in a precedent message, it is related to brltty 5,
brltty 4.5 works fine.

i will continue to see.
