People who I have contact with on other mailing lists have reported that the vast majority of broad forums, like Brin-L or Culture, have lost a lot of traffic. On the whole, most folks I've discussed this with have found few outlets where long conversations occur. I think we've differed on this for more than a decade, Nick. :-) I still see the trend of the internet is to go more and more to closed circles of folks who all agree and short sound byte discussions.
