I've been saying for a good while that the Japanese are ready to jump onto 
the world stage when it comes to Rock music. There are some fine fine 
musicians and composers in Japan making original music. But there is still a 
set of Japanese rockers who tend to ape Americans and Europeans and their 
standard tropes.

Below is a link for a Japanese band playing Deep Purple's "Burn", but the 
band's image is more like Kiss, and the onstage posturing is bad enough to 
be hilarious.

Just for some contrast, here is Yoko Kanno, who is one of my heroes as she 
has the chops to do *anything* she wants to, and is exceedingly good.

She is broad and varied, and in my estimation anyone with that much great 
music in them is a beautiful human being.
