i believe there will be a point when the blowback from global warming
(and possible glaciation) will be catastrophic, but i am a pessimist...
while america has been sleeping, the rest of the world has been making
enormous progress. contributing to the increase in emissions, etc. i
don't see any signs that people in the west are willing to settle for
lower standards of living, but they won't (and don't) have much
choice... i hope global warming won't continue to increase for the
rest of this century, although that will force us to invest in new
technology. the question is whether or not science will be able to
come to the rescue in time? i don't expect the horrors of the 21st
century to be less than the 20th. certainly more people will die, as
population increases beyond critical mass...
