Yes..my memory is that, to use a medical term, that our losses have been a
chronic problem...not an acute problem since then. We lose 2 one day, don't
lose any for two days, lose 7, lose 3, lose none, lose, 1, lose 5, etc.

Nah, I was just unclear....middling unclear by my estimations....but I
guess I should let others judge that.

If you look at the earlier in the thread, the discussion was about losses
in one day.  We clearly couldn't lose 30 every day, because that would be
10k/year...far more than we lost...that was my first statement. 

My second statement  also referred to a single day loss.  I don't remember
any given day in which >=30 Americans were killed.....except possibly for a
day in the first week of combat. That was my qualifier.  I realize that I
didn't  write 30 _in a given day_ again because I tend to drop modifiers
after using them a couple times if I think the context makes the modifier
obvious.  Probably a bad writing habit, but there you go.
