I realize that my fear of spiders is irrational, but unfortunately, the
realization alone doesn't seem to help me at all. I have no idea why I am
so afraid of spiders. My daughter is also very afraid, but I suspect that
could be a learned response to my fear.

Right after I put the bowl over this spider, my 4 year old was right down
there on the floor checking it out and thought it was "cool" and wanted to
keep it as a pet. I am trying very hard to not influence him with my
irrational fear of spiders. Instead, I have been attempting to teach him to
have a reasonable respect for them instead of paralyzing fear.
