Oh, I know the bite is very nasty. I lived in fear of getting bitten on a daily basis. But that's not what I meant. I've read some research (somewhere) that suggested that recluse bites are actually far less rare than people believe. A lot of things were being blamed on recluses that were in areas that didn't have them. The research suggested that it takes a lot to get one of these suckers to bite you. And that has been borne out by our experience. One time my wife put on a hat that had a recluse in it or on it. The spider ran down her arm, jumped on the couch and disappeared.
