I don't know whether it was an attempt by Rogers to backtrack or it was what he really meant, but I once heard (and couldn't find again via Google just now) that when he was challenged on this statement, he explained that he never *met* a man he didn't like, but he grew to dislike a great many.
Of course, this is also a guy who said "I only know what I read in the papers," something our prez can't even say.
