Dan beat me to the punch here, but the author's point is that Republicans now control both house of Congress, have won the last two Presidential elections (despite perceived factors favoring the Democrats both times), control a majority of Governorships and State Legislatures, and arguably have narrow majority on the Supreme court.
And thus the Democratic party has no future? Ridiculous. If anybody has it right, David Brin does, I think -- the left-right axis is doomed, not one party.
