I'm still looking for a good source. This paper from 1999 seems to have numbers similar to those in Buffett's article, but neither Godley nor Buffett give a clear reference on their sources. (This is an interesting paper, if outdated, by the way) http://www.levy.org/docs/stratan/stratan.html The St. Lous Fed summarizes a lot of data from the BEA at the Commerce Dept., but I can't get the numbers to add up. http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/categories/127 Adding up foreign official assets in US net and other assets in US net, I only get a deficit of $447B, whereas Buffet talks about $2500B. The Fed/BEA data seems to be missing something. I'll have to read up on what is included and what is not. -- Erik Reuter http://www.erikreuter.net/ _______________________________________________ http://www.mccmedia.com/mailman/listinfo/brin-l
