SciFi can put out really good shows such as Children Of Dune (Which was quite excellent I have decided after a few viewings) and then plop excrement like Riverworld on our plates. Its not necessarily the networks fault exactly, it appears to me that some of the production teams "get it" (in regards to the concepts that underlie the various books they have tried to adapt) and some don't. But the network is absolutely responsible for airing 2nd and 3rd rate crap on a regular basis. Take Riverworld as an example. It looks like the scriptwriter didn't read the book past 100 pages. Most of the movie had little to do with the book, as if the scriptwriter suddenly decided after reading a couple of chapters that the central theme of Riverworld was some sort of barbarian epic. SciFi bats at a bit less than .100 IMO. I know a lot of people *like* SG1, but it seems fairly pedestrian to me, and people like it mainly because there is nothing substantially better offered. I'm sure everyone is glad that I got that out of my system.<G> > > > > > Did this become a series and, if so, is it living up to its > > potential? > > > > > > > IIRC 13 episodes have been bought and may be seeing production soon. > > > This is also what I have read.
