I believe that it goes to the general fund, but it doesn't really matter to me. Nor does the percentage matter (I believe it's around 40%, but say that with no confidence). It's the principal of the thing. The fact that _my tax dollars_ go to fund leftist propaganda is an outrage. It's coerced speech - the sheerest violation of the First Amendment.
There are all kinds of things our tax money goes to support - not everyone's going to agree on everything. There's things I feel are outrageous, too, that you probably adore.
Tax money for NPR is a tiny amount, voted on by elected Congress. It's hardly coerced - nobody's forced to say or not say anything.
And NPR is hardly "leftist propaganda". Most of it is completely unobjectionable, and the rest is "leftist" only to extreme right-wingers. NPR is actually quite moderate, for the most part.
