His father was a 'Christian' just as much as he'd been a 'Jew'. He was an agnostic who saw which way the wind was blowing. None of the bourgeoisie or upper class were seriously religious. Those nutters got exported to America. Karl was a literal-minded child who didn't understand expediency.

Marx's daughter described herself as a Jewess. I think her dad's position on race, religion, anti-Judaism, anti-Semitism or anti-{anything} is widely misrepresented.
