Um, strangely enough, I met a 10 year old NRI girl from Houston yesterday, at the mehendi wala [a guy who applies henna]. Koko and I wanted to henna our hands and John drove us over to the nearest mehendi-wala after lunch. This girl had apparently never seen or used mehendi before and had a million questions about mehendi, Diwali, India. We had a lovely chat for around an hour while intricate designs were drawn over our hands and wrists. :) > so > in this mornings paper....with photos of a local temple: > http://www.chron.com/content/chronicle/religion/ >That is a place I'd like to visit! It does look interesting. It looks like a South Indian temple, at least from outside. Which, actually, is the extent of my familiarity with temples. I have seen only three or four temples from the inside. :) Yesterday morning, we woke up to pictures of Karl Rove lighting up a Diwali lamp in the White House. There are no papers today, of course. Until the internet, this used to be the only bit I disliked about Diwali - the lack of news on the next day.
