Thinking about the considerable number of Catholics I know, I can't say that any of them hold what I would consider to be literalist ideas. I daresay they exist, but I suspect they are not all that common. The only possible exception I can think of is my aunt in Germany who has been a nun for well over 60 years, though she is probably more old-fashioned and conservative in her views than a literalist. I would be interested if anyone else knows a literalist Catholic. I am thinking that being a literalist would mean for example believing that creation took six days and made God so weary that he took the seventh day off to recover.
