Speaking of safety myths and cameras designed to catch traffic
violators, has anyone else heard of the practice in some municipalities
of *shortening* the yellow light in an effort to catch more people
running the red light, creating more revenue? This is rather dangerous,
and should be illegal.

who had a close call once crossing at a crosswalk, with a walk light,
when someone zipped through the red light in a red sports car, and would
have been in the path of the car at the wrong time had she not been
slowed down by the crutches -- so *that* injury might have been a
lifesaver in the long run
