Not even close.  There's no way that patent could affect CVS.  It is a
specific way of using a hierarchical file system for collaborative website
development.  Take out any *one* of the specifics and you're not infringing.
CVS doesn't do everything described, in the way described.

This is not to say that it doesn't resemble CVS.  But CVS doesn't have the
notions of work, staging and edition areas, each of which is a hierarchical
file system, for example.

It is a process patent, I'm fairly sure, having looked closer at it -- it
describes the flow of things through the system.  Software process patents
are usually trivial to work around.  I know, my name is on one.  Just change
the flow or a stage along the way.  It contains language that would seem to
make it apply very broadly, but the stuff that matters is in the specific
claims.

And I use CVS every day... (ugh).
