I bought it. I took it back to EB 3 days later.

I'm still playing Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri which is IMO a LOT more
fun. And, incidently, supported PBEM play straight out the box.

I have friends who downright screamed over the messups with the "Play
the World" expansion, when I've been happily extending the rule of
Chairman Yang across Planet in PBEM games for a long time :P

(if we have enough interest in a SMAC / SMACX PBEM game on the list,
I'm up for it as long as I can be Hive (SMAC) or Cyborgs (SMACX))

I like Civ III more than Civ II, but I could beat Civ II without breathing hard. Civ III is so much tougher. I don't understand how people win the game so quickly. I stopped reading the fan forums, I was too depressed.

I'd do a PBEM, but I have not played SMAC in a while. Years. Maybe in April when I'm used to the game?

Like I need to play more computer games.
