I personally preferred Civ II: Call to Power over Civ III. There was a little bit more depth and had some interesting effects, like pollution doing more than messing up your farmlands (Greenhouse effect and rising oceans). Also I think Civ III is broken wrt combat values...why is it my Riflemen or Infantry get beat by Pikemen, Hoplites or Knights when assaulting a city, even after artillery bombardment!?!Is it just me, or is Civ III missing the "magic" that the first two installments have. I don't know if its just that Civ III is much harder, or if it is that Civ III is treated much more like a "game" than a "civilization", but somehow I just don't find it nearly as fun as the first two.
