"Of course, I'm biased, prejudiced, etc, so perhaps someone else should also
answer
this one?"

* Cayn't do it honey. You know your Dad
and Ralph are in my soul. It's a "style" that
is rare like a colorless diamond. My Gramma'
use to sing ("shing") like she was 'trying to
keep her dentures in' too. It's jesht a sssoul
sssstyle where certain vowels and consenants
are peculiarly pronounced with depth that
can't be "truly" reduplicated. Oh sure, people
can pretend to copy and be... but for me to
get my hair raised.... I have to go in to a
Primitive Baptist Church and here the style
and harmony roll out of the throats from the
REAL people that aren't recorded. You know
"that sound" when you hear it. It's 'almost'
dreadful and heartbreaking... mournful. lol.
That's the word, mournful. Hard lives, hard
times, etc.

"-Rhonda Vincent, Allison Krauss"

* now you're making me smile with our
Mountain Sweethearts, Patty Loveless, Sonya and Lily Isaac of 'The Isaacs'
and my heroine,
Rhonda (& The Rage). These girls have broken barriers and ground in
Bluegrass. I just love to hear Sonya Isaac-Surrett sing and make that
mandolin dance with Gospel
Bluegrass!! Oh, yes ma'am!

"I'm not nearly as good at this as Renee & Willie, but pass the CAFFEINATED
decaf, give me a handkerchief, giggle,"

* Well, I'm sure Harry's got a pot on and
he'll be more'n glad to pour ya' some. I'd
share mine but I NEED it after tonight.
"Homegrown" people are always out for a
good giggle and caffienated toe-tapping.

"& can somebody tell me what is a "Digest"
please?"

* A digest is where you can get the groups
mail in one daily dose .... called the daily
digest. That way there's not a bizillion emails
in the box, just one long one with all the days
mail. Some like it, some don't. I don't even know if it's offered here?!

Keep loving bluegrass & gospel music, it's the very best music in the
world!
Doris

* Yes, darlin', it is. It's not manufactured,
it's "felt". And I'm still SO glad we've got
people sitting at a table and talking, finally! And so many new people.
Nice to meet you all and nice to talk to some of the quieter ones too! This
can be a warm, fun place. I like ALL the memories shared here recently. I
personally think The Stanley's and ALL Mountain-folk want the WAY of living
to continue too ... so talking about memories, heritage, various other
"Mountain Soul" things is a *Good* thing. It's not JUST the music, it's a
way of life, a culture. Even no matter
where you're from. (shrugs) Talking about the culture is just as good as...
a cup of mud on a high wind morning.

... hey Buddy?? ... <grins> leave me alone now boy. Descriptives are my
writing nature
so you can "see" my tone and expressions.
okay? <a side-glare wink and an elbow> lol

'tis the season. Be Merry.
Renee' :o)
