11/22/2005 Dear I Johnson:
HE has said, "you have only to KNOCK & the door will be opened unto you", "SEEK and you shall FIND", "ASK and you shall receive". Thank you so much for that good information-I never cease to be amazed that I learn something nearly every time I get a chance to look at this website & at how much SMART & knowledgeable all the great people who post things are-and how generous you all are to share your information here with us all! I am, as always, grateful to have this information. I knew Ralph made it to the Museum of Appalachia every year or so. He'd told me when I saw him in August in Abingdon, Va, that he planned to keep his normal personal appearance dates as nearly as possible this year. That would include the Museum which is very close to me. Thanks also for the name of the Museum owner. Now I'll be able to ask for him by name when I visit-hopefully between Xmas & New Year's Day this year while my Yum Yum grandbabies are here in Pigeon Forge visiting us. I've been forced to start my Bar exam study in earnest-about 4 weeks ago- so now we only take the Friday, Saturday, & Sunday Knoxville News Sentinel & I only get to read Sundays usually. I saw the distinguished Mr. John Rice Irwin's photo in Sunday's Sentinel, the name popped right out at me from your very kind e-mail so I checked & happened to have it to go back & see his photo again. He'd given the newspaper his learned opinion on who he thought the 10 greatest Tennesseans should be. Now I can connect that name to his face, thanks so much again! Sounds as if I've been right close to a really good shindig & haven't been able to get there yet. I'm taking 10 days off from Dec 25-Jan 3 & now I'll make a very special effort to get my grandbabies to the Appalachian Museum while they're here then & perhaps will be able to get to the actual homecoming doings next year. Mike, you have every right to be proud of your son. Sounds as if he's beating most of us at making his fortune in the world! My daughter is still working on her nursing degree-I keep telling her she's "looking for herself in all the wrong places!" but she's about to get her act together now. It's about time too. I wish she had a business or something like that, but wants her nursing degree so that is what she will do. I'd love to have my own business like your son, but I'm probably better off just trying to practice law, owning a business is a lot of work! I've broken down & hired myself a tutor-I'm afraid I won't pass this test the first try without real help, so I've gotten an attorney here to help me learn & remember what I learn. Happy Thanksgiving everyone, God bless all of you & keep you safely in his sight. Renee' ya'll take care & don't eat up all the turkey you see now! Keep loving bluegrass & mountain music, it's the best music in the world. Cordially your friend, Doris Quoting "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: " " you can contact the Museum of Appalachia in Norris, TN: " " John Rice Irwin is the founder and is a real promoter of old time music. " " They have a wonderful "homecoming" the first weekend of october every year, " " music on 5 stages all day. We saw John Hartford, Mac Wiseman and even " " Janette Carter once. If you have never been you have missed an event of a " " lifetime. Ralph & CMB are there most every year - I actually had the " " extreme pleasure to meet him about 3 years ago when he was getting off the " " bus just before their appearance. (Probably scared him to death - sorry " " Mr. Stanley. I'm the crazy girl in the yellow rain poncho.) " " Anyway, they always have a great turnout - bring your own lawn chair. It's " " 4 or 5 days and you can buy a ticket for one day or all of it. The museum " " is open all year and it's focus is on music. They have live music in one " " of the cabins every day. It's a great place. We have been going for " " years. " " The address is P.O.
