Thanks Renee'.  I've printed out your instructions & will learn from them.  I've probably goofed up a few e-mails now that I know LOL means Lots of Laughs when all this time I thought it meant Lots of LOVE!  About Rhonda Vincent-honest to goodness, that's who I meant-I've never heard Gillian Welch in person, but Rhonda I've heard lots of times.  Gillian's good also, but I've heard more of Rhonda Vincent stuff than Gillian's.  It took me a while to get used to Rhonda's singing style and she's gotten so much better since I first heard her.  It was Rhonda Vincent (who's recorded several of Daddy's songs herself & has participated on several of Ralph's records) I WAS thinking of now that you mention it.

Anybody can participate via my personal e-mail address or contact me directly who'd like to do so.  I hope those who have contacted me directly will PLEASE forgive me for not answering you yet-I'll get to you, I promise.  It's just that I only get to read & write on here about once a week.

Folks who are really interested in the human side of  Carter & Ralph Stanley, the people who helped shape them and made them as they were & are, what influenced them & caused their musical styles and careers to evolve as they did can join us if you don't object.  I'm not about to start my own "gossip room", but I don't get nearly enough opportunity to run on about how wonderful I think Stanley music, old-timey bluegrass & gospel mountain music is and how much I love nearly everyone who makes that music, supports it, ever did support it, and those who so generously share their information and knowledge with those of us who don't know it all.

I've learned many things from you and other participants on this website.  Like you, if I know the answer to a question, I give it as best I can and it does disturb me to have folks ask questions & then not have answers available to them.  If I know answers, I just give them & I know you do also.  James Alan Shelton is a good source of very positive information about all things Ralph Stanley, current & recent past Stanley music, Clinch Mountain Boys, etc, and he's put out a CD of his own that I'm trying to find, so he gives everyone information if he knows it & when he can.  They're often on the road, though, and I guess his ability to post responses to the "official" website is limited by touring schedules, etc.  He's pretty good, though, and I've never known him to post anything negative about anyone here & if he doesn't know the answer, he's secure enough to just says he doesn't know.  ALSO- if he knows who to ask, lots of times he'll answer with reference to someone else to ask, etc.

Thanks for your e-mail.  I'll give you my permanent one that my husband & I have set up.  We're about to make a move to a very familiar US state from our current home, so we've gotten a permanent e-mail address now.   I'm not studying for another state bar exam by CHOICE-I have to do it.  And I will or die trying.  The new e-mail address we'll be using is [EMAIL PROTECTED]

You keep doing it your way, Renee'.  Personally, you've never offended me in any way & I've loved your postings.

Talk to you privately, gal.

A Devote Stanley, Bluegrass, Gospel, Mountain, Old-timey Music Fan....

Cordially,

Doris.

Dear Renee':

I'd like to respond to you, but personally and privately.  I had no idea you could contact people offline from the website or I'd have sent my responses to you that way.  May I respond to you at your personal e-mail?  If so, how do I get it?  Blood's thicker than water-especially Stanley blood. Doris Stanley Bradley.

* Awwww Doris honey .... you just made my heart melt.   I felt your love and support.
Thank you my dear,  thank you.   Especially for your humbling words regarding my
writing style.   You'll never know how I needed that boost and I'm very, very appreciative
of your letter.

Yes, by all means you can contact me personally and we'll get things'a going from there.

You can find a person's email address by:
    1.  click once on the email,  making sure that their letter is highlighted in your mail box
    2.  "RIGHT"  click your mouse.
    3.  Go down to "Properties".   Click  and  Tah-Dah    (flings arms out)

:o)    You've got their addy.

And people use "<g>"  aka Grin  to show the emotion being felt.   "Lol" of course is Laughing out loud, etc.

Otherwise sometimes it's hard to "read" a person's intent without it.   They may be joking and you'll take
them seriously.    It helps "describe body language" since we can't "see" the person's reactions.

But to tell ya' the truth... I don't know what *barb* is except maybe Mrs.Bush.   ;o)   (wink)   hehe.

Oh,  and the astrics **  by words means they're slightly more emphasized.   Like..... how *dare* they?!!

Some people think all capital letters is a'hollerin' .... but some think it is emphasizing too.   I don't
take it as hollerin', personally, unless there's cussin' involved.   Then I know it wasn't meant nice.  <g>

If people end up getting nasty with ya',  let me know and I'll teach you how to block their butt from
coming in your 'house'.   That means your email will censor that person completely out and they'll
go straight to the trash.     If people want to get *real* mean .... there is online abuse specialists
with a badge that who will gladly take care of that bad person.   "Mean" is not acceptable behavior,
nor do I tolerate it very well.                    I told ya'll Stanley's are spunky?!!

Yes honey.   We'll talk in private and unfortunately ....  leave alot of people out of alot of good stories.

(sigh) .... all over a few who have their drawers in a knot.   As much as I'm looking forward to our stories
and carrying on's ....    I still feel like there are a handfull that are about to be cheated out of some
good belly laughs.    But ....  (shrugs)....  can't please the world.   But we still try don't we.
Shame how some can ruin the fun for others.     (mumbles "party poops")      <g>

Talk to ya' later and in case my directions aren't clear ...

But.... give it a try so you'll know how to do it for whomever's next.
Atta girl on going for a "new state license".    :o)    yup,  we're determined and you and I will get along
perfectly because we're Both Spitfire Stanley's ...   with hearts of gold.

Thank you Doris.   You once again made my day.  ((hug))   God bless ya' honey.
Renee'

ps:  you mentioned some *very* good names, however my girl Rhonda Vincent was on your
mind and you just forgot to type it.   ;o)     Right sissy?     yup.        lol
