Move worked in dos 6. Maybe 5 as well. I believe it is until XP at least that the structure of DOS remains in tact.

Hi Mike,

thank you very mach for your nice words. A technical note if I may say, it is not DOS it is windows command prompt commands we are talking about. True they resembel DOS once because Windows is an OS next to DOS. However, there are more than DOS commands, I mean some that were not present in the DOS times for example "move" whiche moves a file from place to place or simply renames files.

In order to make sure you know how a command acts you may also type
COMMANDNAME /?
for example
move /?

Here I list some commands that were defenately not available in DOS
Ping <ip address/host name> checks if another device with passed ip address or host name is present.
Tracert <ipaddress/hostname> shows the root to reach a device
Xcopy <source location> <target location> copies a folder with all its contents to the target. Available in DOS as an external command.

and mach more.

Regards,
Nikolay

I suggest if you are going to suggest such a command that you include the
tip to pipe the results to a text file. I leave that to you folks.

Most people don't know what they're doing and a lot of them are really
good
 at it.

 Hi Mike,

 Please try

The system will return a list of most PROMPT commands that are acceptable.
