In my experience, MSE does not seem to slow things down appreciably while
it is scanning, so you can certainly use your PC during this time.

Well I am happy to report that I have successfully migrated
2 of our 3 computers to MSE. I did not have any difficulty
uninstalling Avast. I am also pleased to report that MSE did
not find any issues on either computer after its initial
scan. Avast must have been doing a good job. One question on
MSE, I see you can schedule a scan. Can the computer be used
during this time? If so, how much does it bog it down? I
remember Avast used to slow things down quite a bit.
