In addition to ease of use, most sound and recording buffs prefer external
sound cards because inside a PC case, whether laptop or desktop. has lots
of high speed electronics which generates a lot of noise. The external
sound cards do not need to shield against as much noise and should generate
/ digitize a purer signal. However, I have not been able to hear the
difference.

Mostly ease of installation and removal, simply plug the things in and
often
times any drivers will get installed automatically.

Good Morning All,
Would someone please explain to me and anyone else who doesn't know the
differences between an external & internal sound card? Such as,
advantages/disadvantages and the way an external sound card works.
Personally, I run SoundBlaster Audigy internal sound cards on both our XP
machines because that is all I have ever known. I would be interested in
hearing if there are any advantages with an external sound card. All
advice
will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much. Take care.
Mike

It's simply a matter of opinion completely.

Hi Patricia,
Well, I'm not certain it's the best,of course it depends on whose
definition
you are using,
but I do prefer them over others I have tried.

Several people have mentioned a Soundblaster sound card for music. I'd
appreciate knowing what it is. Marilyn
