John,
Where can I find that little program you mentioned in your message? It
sounds like something i could really use.

Hi Dan,
This works on XP and previous versions of Windows.
Pick up Quickmix which allows you among other things to put a shortcut to
an
unmuted volume configuration in your Windows startup folder so that when
that happens you can just reboot and all volume control settings return to
normal.
There is probably some laptop key combination you are accidentally hitting
which causes the muting.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] bad muting problem
We need some help; both my friend and I are blind; when on the computer,
all
of a sudden we will loose speech, windows sounds and everything else that
one could hear; when we find someone that can see to look at the screen we
find that the computer has muted itself; we have two questions; is there a
way that a blind person can un/mute the computer; and secondly, what would
make the computer just decide to mute; any help in this mater will be
appreciated. Thanks,
Dan
