Not sure, I do know that from what I have read, you don't really need to defrag flashdrives, but, as far as formatting, it's just a matter to how much you read and write back and forth to the drive that can make it go bad. They are supposed to have a life span of so many read/writes, but, I have never had a flashdrive go bad yet so I can't really give any guesses to how long that may actually be. I must print a retraction because my memory failed me earlier. Smart computing mentions defragmenting a flash drive is not good for them, I do not recall anything mentioning reformatting.
