Hi Donald, Yes sir, you are correct. My immediate concern is what is supposed to be checked or unchecked on the Services Tab/Page. I have never messed around with anything on this particular tab, and therefore don't have a freaking clue what is supposed to be checked or not. Well , I guess I have one hell of a lot of reading to do with the information that Gerald & Jacob provided me with. Thank you very much Donald for addressing my immediate concern. Take care. The responses you have gotten provide excellent advise on how to optimize your system. However, your original question and immediate concern was to recover your system to normal. Unless you had previously gone into msconfig and unchecked items in the Services or Startup tabs, everything was probably checked. Unchecking items that are installed on your system is a way to force them not to run. I have a couple of Startup items unchecked that came preinstalled on my computer but had conflicts with JAWS. Once you return your computer to normal, then you can optimize your system if desired.
