Hi Arianna,

Have you actually called the ISP to find out if service is still on in your
area, as they may be having network difficulties.

An easy way to diagnose this without your ISP's involvement is if you're
able to get mail from the same account on another computer, then it's a sure
bet that it has nothing to do with the connection and something has gotten
corrupted on the computer's end.

Another thing you might want to ask the ISP anyway about is if they changed
the settings for pop access for your area.

My ISP changed the server setting numbers and didn't bother to warn their
customers and so received a tonne of calls asking them why they couldn't
access their mail anymore, but could do so on the net.

If you want to check this for yourself, go to the ISP home page and see if
there's any mention of server port numbers and/or server changes to their
customers.

Of course, the easiest way of figuring this out is to call your ISP and
asking them.

Alternatively, if you find the trouble to be on your local computer, you
might want to try re-creating the account.

In other words, go into the tools menu, then into accounts, and highlight
the account that is giving you the trouble.

Once highlighted, tab to the remove or delete button, and remove it.

Once done, shift+tab to the add button, and press the spacebar to create a
new mail account.

At this point, follow the steps and re-create the account, as it may have
been corrupted.

If you're still not getting any results, do a scan for any viruses, and/or
malware that may be affecting your computer, and specifically, Outlook
Express.

Barring that, we'll have to re-visit the problem again once you've
accomplished the steps above and try to figure out something else.

Take care, and good luck.
