Visitors: A few visitors today. Thanks to Tom B, Derek and Harold for getting the count done today. Weather: Bright and sunny under pure blue skies to start the day today. Winds were light from the NE before swinging around to E and finally to ESE. Temps ranged from a cooler 11C to start and getting to a high of 22C. Clouds eventually built in through the day reaching about 80% coverage by the end of the count period. Raptor Observations: A smaller flight today with 384 raptors tallied including Osprey (9), a lone immature Bald Eagle, a great flight of Northern Harriers (99), Sharpies (152), Cooper's Hawks (3), Only a handful of Broadwings (7), Redtails (3), Am Kestrels (30), Merlins (2) and a Peregrine. Non-raptor Observations: No report provided today for non-raptors. Predictions: Winds are forecast from the ESE to SE for Sunday which are pretty much the worst wind directions for any kind of flight along the lake shore so I would expect that most migrating raptors will pass inland and not come past the hawk watch tomorrow. Monday is looking rainy which will halt any migration. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Dave Brown ([email protected]) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm More site information at hawkcount.org: https://hawkcount.org/siteinfo.php?rsite=392 -- Ontbirds and Birdnews are moderated email Listservs provided by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) as a service to all birders in Ontario.
