Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 8 hours

Official Counter: Stasso, Jacob

Observers: Andrew Wiebe, Donny Moore, Kara Wiebe, Noel Herdman

Visitors:
We thank all today's observers for their outstanding efforts and those
interested in the ongoing Hawk Count. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, access
to the top level of Hawk Tower is limited to hawk counters and qualified
observers only. The 2nd and lower levels are open to the public practising
COVID-19 safe precautions (social distancing). Thank you for your
understanding and involvement.

Weather:
Temperature today stayed within a small range, starting at 7 degrees C and
having a high of around 10 C. Day was constantly overcast with alternating
periods of fog, mist, and drizzle, making for non-optimal raptor
observation. Wind was consistently northerly throughout the day.

Raptor Observations:
Despite the optimal winds, today was slow for raptors most likely due to
the alternating periods of rain. Turkey Vultures were lower at only 97,
making flight within a one hour window. Sharpies were significantly low at
only 8. Buteos were also low with only 6 Red Tails and 3 Red Shoulders.
Although appearing in singles, each falcon made an appearance today. Two
Golden Eagles also passed by, one at 7:24 EST and the other at 11:37 EST.
An immature Northern Goshawk also passed closely by the tower.

Non-raptor Observations:
Non-raptor day was rather slow, with very little songbirds and little
passing over blackbirds. Blue Jay movement has seemed to significantly slow
with only 50 seen, while Crows are also low at 230. Marsh numbers remain
high, albeit lower than the past few days.

Predictions:
Tomorrow is expected to clear up consistently with clear and partly cloudy
sunny skies throughout the day. Temperatures are expected to be warmer at
15 degree C highs. Lastly, winds are expected to be primarily westerly,
strengthening throughout the day. Hopefully these conditions make raptor
movement favourable, with numbers making up for the lack there of today.
