Late this afternoon there were 12 GWFG in the Madawaska headpond at Arnprior
amongst hundreds of CANG. The flocks of geese were leaving near sunset but
may well return tomorrow. The GWFG were in separate groups of 4 (2 ad, 2
juv), 7 (3 ad, 4 juv), and a single adult that flew in near sunset. As the
ratio of young to adult birds was different yesterday (apparently only 4
juveniles were present then), there have undoubtedly been more than 12 GWFG
present over the past few days. I arrived at 4 p.m. and many geese had
drifted out into the headpond and many others had already flown away.

The headpond is at the east end of Baskin Drive, which comes off Daniel
Street just north of Highway 417 (north of the White Lake Road).

Happy Birding!
Michael Runtz
