Visitors:
Thanks to everyone for the help with today's count. Lots of visitors today
(40 to 50) but unfortunately, there weren't many birds moving through.
Weather:
We had poor conditions this morning with fog, humidity and no discernible
wind of any kind. The blue sky did eventually come with nice clouds but the
birds did not. Winds were mostly WSW and SW for the day once they got
going.
Raptor Observations:
Only 15 hawks for the morning and another 22 in the afternoon for a total
of 37 for the day. Raptors seen included a couple of Peregrines later in
the afternoon.
Non-raptor Observations:
Blue Jays were on the move again today with a total of 537 tallied. Other
species included warblers (BT Blue, N. Parula, Ovenbird, Nashville,
Magnolia, Common YT), Sparrows (White-throated, Song), woodpeckers
(Pileated, N. Flicker, Downy), Scarlet Tanager, House Wren, RB Grosbeak,
Great Blue Heron, Cedar Waxwings, Belted Kingfisher, Swainson's Thrush,
Brown Thrasher, Red-eyed Vireo and Gray Catbird.
Predictions:
Winds are forecast WSW with lots of sun. Unfortunately, the wind just
doesn't want to get around to the N. Wouldn't expect much of a flight
...likely similar to today's.
