This morning I count at least 350 Red-necked Grebes of Rattray Marsh ... not that usual since this a know late summer/fall staging area. The mudflats are rapidly widening since the water level of Lake Ontario has dropped considerably in the last few weeks but with only 3 species of shorebird: 9 Killdeer and one each of Least Sandpiper and Semipalmated Plover.
Directions: park at the south end of Bexhill which runs south of Lakeshore Boulevard between Southdown Road/Erin Mills Parkway and Mississauga Road. Turn left at the bottom the hill and take the trail to the lake.
