Total observation time: 7 hours

Observers: Bob Hall-Brooks, Michael Williamson

Visitors:
4 visitors came for a walk and to check out the ducks and swans.

Weather:
The 14C day felt an awful lot cooler than it should have, with the sun
obscured by a sky full of clouds. The wind picked up a little bit as the
day went on, but never exceeded 10kph. It came mostly from the east with a
little bit of variability, gusts pushing from slightly north and south.

Raptor Observations:
As per usual this past while, most of the raptors waited until after 10am
to start their travels. They then sped across the sky with great vigour,
making the most of today's tailwind. It was a nice day for Northern
Harriers, being the first and the last birds of the day, with 20 in the
middle. Red-tails made up most of the numbers again, and a handful of
Red-shouldered mixed themselves in. The lighting was perfect for getting
great looks at all the birds colourations and so we were especially pleased
to have a light-morph Rough-legged Hawk fly directly over our heads.
Unfortunately, our only Golden Eagle of the day was far to the north so we
didn't get good looks, but you can't have everything right?

Non-raptor Observations:
The ducks were all very active, swimming and dabbling and diving, as they
are wont to do. A Common Loon flew over the marsh from east to west,
appearing in a great hurry! While most of the common passerine migrants
came through in slightly smaller numbers, American Crows really made a
comeback with 2350 flocking past. Over 200 Rusty Blackbirds were again
present in the trees around the tower in the morning, coming and going in
small numbers as the day progressed. See today's eBird list

Predictions:
SE and S winds all day with a rainy afternoon
