Highlights: Again, not too much to report this week, especially on the Canadian side of our circle, with 2 of the 3 highlights coming from Jefferson County, NY. Highlights of the week include; SEDGE WREN, PRAIRIE WARBLER, and HENSLOW'S SPARROW. SEDGE WRENS were again seen this week on a couple of dates, 3 on 1st and 4 on 4th, at a location just northwest of Verona. At Wilton Creek, near Napanee, shorebird numbers seem to have dropped off, with just a handful of LESSER YELLOWLEGS, and singles of GREATER YELLOWLEGS and SEMIPALMATED PLOVER. Please don't forget that Amherstview Sewage Lagoons will remain strictly closed until early October. At Perch River WMA, HENSLOW'S SPARROW was seen on 1st, BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER and 2 TRUMPETER SWANS on 4th and 10 BLUE-WINGED TEAL on 3rd. Three PRAIRIE WARBLERS were seen at Chaumont Barrens Preserve on 4th. In order to minimise disturbance to wildlife and property, Kingston Field Naturalists has adopted the KFN Sensitive Sightings Policy <http://kingstonfieldnaturalists.org/birding/KFN_sensitive_sightings_policy. pdf> . Also note that, as requested by the landowners, sightings of owls at the privately-owned Owl Woods must not be distributed on the Internet (this includes posting as 'Amherst Island' on eBird) by KFN or anyone who visits. To ensure continued access to this location, please respect their wishes and follow the guidelines posted on-site. To maintain records for conservation purposes, sightings from that location are welcomed through all the traditional channels. As always, thanks to all those who have submitted sightings over the last week. Mark. Mark D.
