Ron Ridout and I again found a/the single Greater White-fronted Goose at the bridge over Big Creek on the Long Point causeway. Today it was on the east side of the bridge and wasn't immediately visible but swam into view from around the bend at about 0810. It remained in sight for ten minutes before flying north with a flock of Canada Geese. This week there has been a good concentration of geese at Dedrick Creek where it crosses Concession 1 (first road north of Port Rowan); this may be a good spot to check.
There were also about 2500 Tundra Swans in the lead of open water to the east of the causeway. Here's a full list of birds that I saw here: http://ebird.org/ebird/canada/view/checklist?subID=S22432648 Directions: from Port Rowan, travel west on Front Road to the intersection with Hwy 59 and turn left (south). The causeway separates Big Creek Marsh to the west and Long Point Bay to the east. There is a small parking area just before the bridge over Big Creek. Be sure to pull well off the road here, pay attention to traffic, and not to block vehicles. -- *Please support my birdathon for bird conservation! <http://birdscanada.kintera.org/birdathon/mikeburrell>* *Mike Burrell* [email protected] Bird-finding and trip planning: http://burrellbirding.ca/ Blog: http://mikeburrell.blogspot.com/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
