This morning at 8 am I had a single Greater White-fronted Goose swimming in Big Creek to the west of the bridge on the causeway. After about 25 minutes this bird, along with a flock of Canada Geese, flew north out of sight. I could not relocate at the time but it is quite likely it is still in the area and could return to roost here tonight as it is the only open water in the Long Point area.
There were also about 1500 Tundra Swans in the lead of open water to the east of the causeway. Here's a full list of birds that I saw here: http://ebird.org/ebird/canada/view/checklist?subID=S22419587 I have a couple photos of the goose on my blog ( http://mikeburrell.blogspot.ca/) Directions: from Port Rowan, travel west on Front Road to the intersection with Hwy 59 and turn left (south). The causeway separates Big Creek Marsh to the west and Long Point Bay to the east. There is a small parking area just before the bridge over Big Creek. Be sure to pull well off the road here, pay attention to traffic, and not to block vehicles. -- *Please support my birdathon for bird conservation! <http://birdscanada.kintera.org/birdathon/mikeburrell>* *Mike Burrell* [email protected] Blog: http://mikeburrell.blogspot.com/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
