Yesterday (December 27) there was at least 1 red-throated loon present at the Mouth of the Niagara river, visible near shore from Queen's Royal Park in Niagara-on-the-Lake. In Queenston/Lewiston, a kettle of about 30 black vultures was circling over the U.S. side directly across the river from the Queenston boat launch. 2 TVs also flew through the kettle. There was at least one glaucous gull at Sir Adam Beck. No sign of the Eurasian Tree Sparrow or any other birds at the house along the parkway. Maybe no feed left in the feeder. Queen's Royal Park is located on Front st. in Niagara-on-the-Lake, 2 blocks east of queen st. Queenston is south of Niagara-on-the-lake along Niagara Parkway and Sir Adam Beck generating station is just South of Queenston with a pull-off on the east side of the road overlooking the river and the gulls. From afar, take the QEW to the 405, go east on 405, exit at Stanley Ave/102, turn left (N) and right (E) on Portage Rd. which leads to the Niagara parkway. Good luck, Karl _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
